The Ring Road Rawalpindi is not just a road—it’s a transformative infrastructure project that’s going to change the real estate game of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. When it comes to this massive undertaking, Abdullah City Islamabad will be on the right side of history as it is only a 5-minutes drive away from Chakri Interchange.
Be sure to read this blog to see the complete location map, the 2025 construction updates, and discover how Abbas City will lead the charge in projects located around Chakri Interchange.
The Rawalpindi Ring Road is a big road that you can get on and off at only a few places. It goes a long way—about 38.3 km. There are six lanes, so lots of cars can use it. They made this road to help with all the cars in Rawalpindi. Now, it’s easier to move around the city and get to the big road and the other road called M-2.
The Ring Road brings together important parts of the city. And now, it lets people go to places they couldn’t before—new spots that might grow fast. So, it’s a big chance for people who want to build or buy homes or other places.
On this route, you will start with Banth (The GT Road / N-5), finishing at the Thalian Interchange (The M-2 Motorway). The route is the culmination of five interchanges:
Banth Interchange
Chak Beli Khan Interchange
Adiala Interchange
Chakri Interchange
Thalian Interchange
Each interchange provides residents, investors, and businesses with additional options and eases connectivity between Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and adjacent areas.
From the map, one of the most important areas will be the Chakri Interchange, which also has many of the top housing societies, including Abdullah City Islamabad, which is the No.1 Project on Chakri Road.
The provincial government's leadership in Punjab has exponentially increased the pace of the Ring Road Rawalpindi for residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Full construction updates are as follows:`
Project Summary
Total Length: 38.3 km
Road Classification: Six-lane, access-controlled motorway
Revised Project Cost: PKR 32.9-39 billion
Land Acquisition Cost: Approximately PKR 6 billion
Key Interchanges- Banth, Chak Beli Khan, Adiala, Chakri, Thalian
The Ring Road was designed to keep heavy traffic out of the city, reduce traffic congestion, and keep daily travelers within safe and quick travel routes.
Overall Progress: ~50% completed.
Earthworks: 100% completed.
Structures (bridges, interchanges): ~60% completed.
Expected Completion! December 2025.
As per CM Punjab, Maryam Nawaz.
Experts have confidence in the speed of construction and clear deadlines that the Ring Road will be completed by the relevant time, and nearby development, including Chakri, will expect a property value hike soon after.
5 Completely Developed Interchanges
12 Road and River Bridges
11 Flyovers / Overpasses
10 Underpasses / Subways
Roughly 49-53 Culverts
All of the above elements are being constructed to high engineering standards, supervised by RDA and CDA, and undertaken by the Frontier Work Organization (FWO). All the road design has been performed by Botek JV, a famous Turkish company.
Phase II was intended to expand the road from Thalian to Sangjani to create a complete ring around Islamabad. However:
Phase II has not progressed.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) is looking to expand the existing lanes of the motorway instead.
After considering the high land costs and proximity of M-2, the NHA dropped the feasibility of Phase II.
This means that Phase I is still the most significant investment, and Abdullah City is located right in the centre of it all.
Chakri Interchange is the top-regarded interchange in terms of real estate along the Ring Road. Why?
Because it gives you direct access to the M-2 Motorway, easy access into Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and contains high-end residential projects around it, it is the most desired location for investors and homeowners.
